What’s the smell of Hong Kong Winter time?

No, it’s not the smell of coal power stations…although quite often that’s what it smells like in Hong Kong on polluted winter days.

Walking across the traffic crossing towards Wan Chai MTR, a wonderful scent of roasted chestnuts filled my nostrils. It’s winter time!

Yum yum. I haven’t had any yet… but I’m sure these ladies will be somewhere around here as long as no buskers get the spot first.

They are also often across the street by the Hang Seng bank.

Bringing your stroller to Wan Chai by MTR? ACCESS DENIED.

This is just bordering on ridiculous. How can The lift serving the concourse to platform be out of order for renovation for 7 months?!!

Ok MTR Corp, in May I’d like to see 3 lift shafts where there was only one before and each lift capable of taking at least 5 strollers instead of the 3 that we can pack in like sardines (if all mobile people take the escalators).

If any renovation lasts more than 3 days, MTR Corp should be obliged to put up a proper explanation of what is being done to justify the inconvenience, extra staffing and general annoyance this causes the public.

I’m waiting for my reply.

Exhibition craziness in Wanchai- Hong Kong Book Fair & Sports and Leisure Fair

Wan Chai MTR station has been super crowded since last Thursday. It’s the annual Hong Kong Book Fair and Sports & Leisure Fair. It feels like all of Hong Kong’s residents decided to come.

Crazy crowded isn’t it. Literally walking shoulder to shoulder, the bridge must be at almost maximum loading. It was very slow moving, there was no way to overtake people and there were choke points where people were trying to “change lanes” to get to the other side of the foot bridge (separated by steel barricades) or decide which exit to take.

With the typhoon gone, it was a hot, steamy afternoon. I guess the organisers are making up for lost time today.

Most people going to the book fair and Sports Leisure Fair were advised to turn off here and walk through those Greek key mazes to the convention centre.

If you made it to Immigration Tower, police are in full force and everyone has to follow the lines and signs.

No, no I didn’t go. I was just running an errand at Immigration Tower.
